For peace and tranquility to reign in your home, it is important that from time to time you perform the novena to the Archangels, it is a Catholic tradition that comes from many years, where praises are paid to the Archangels Saint Michael, Saint Gabriel and San Rafael.

The Church celebrates on November 29 the feast of the three Archangels, who represent in the Bible the messengers of a very important mission entrusted by God, according to some scriptures, they are on earth since they have the ability to help everyone who has need or some problem in the family, at home or with friends.

For many years this ceremony has been celebrated where prayers, praises, prayers and devotions to the Archangels are performed for nine consecutive days, many faithful come en masse to pray and ask for the peace and harmony of their family and their environment, the other Archangels who do not mentioned in the Bible are the following:

• Uriel.
• Camuel.
• Jofiel.
• Zadkiel

That together with Gabriel, Miguel and Rafael make up the seven most important archangels, however they are grouped into three main entities, which are the ones only named in the Bible, they help anyone to free us from the clutches of satan. In some traditions the only one called Archangel is Saint Gabriel, who is also the main messenger from heaven.

They come from the creation of God, when he formed a choir of diverse angels, these were Seraphim, Thrones, Cherubim, Principalities, Powers, Angels and Archangels. During the Middle Ages they were very popular, since many Christians sought their gifts to request favors.

From this tradition and devotion is born the Christian ceremony of making requests, praises and adoration to the three Archangels for nine consecutive days, who for many centuries have defended man from the temptations and attacks of the devil.

In many countries the novena is held for nine consecutive days, they maintain an established order based on the spiritual content, based on petitions and requests, as well as on praises and prayers, their structure for the realization maintains the following order: Initial prayers, Invocation to the Archangels and closing prayer.

opening sentences

They are a group of prayers that are made at the beginning of each day, they are accompanied with the sign of the cross to start and saying:

“By the sign of the Holy Cross, from our enemies, deliver us, Lord, our God. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.”

Then follows an act of contrition where it is said:

“Jesus, my Lord and Redeemer, I repent of all the sins I have committed until today, and it weighs me with all my heart, because with them, I have offended such a good God. I firmly propose not to sin again, and I trust that, by your infinite mercy, you will grant me forgiveness for my sins and you will lead me to eternal life. Amen.”

Prayer to the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael:

They are prayers dedicated the nine days to the praise and request of favors to each one of the three Archangels, also called novena of the holy angels, they are short prayers where each devotee refers to the form of the request, always hoping to receive the great favor, let’s see.

The first invocation is made to Saint Michael the Archangel and it goes like this:

Saint Michael the Archangel, loyal champion of God and of his people, I confidently turn to you seeking your powerful intercession. For the love of God, Who made you so glorious in grace and power, and for the love of the Mother of Jesus, the Queen of Angels, please me to hear my prayer.

“You know the value of my soul in the eyes of God. May no stain of evil deform her beauty. Help me overcome the evil spirit that tempts me. I wish to imitate your loyalty to God and Holy Mother Church and your great love for God and people. And since you are God’s messenger for the care of his people, I entrust you with this special request (Request is mentioned)

“Saint Michael Archangel, because you are, by the will of the Creator, the powerful intercessor of Christians, I have great confidence in your prayers. I sincerely trust that, if it is the holy will of God, my request will be granted.

“Saint Michael the Archangel, pray for me and also for all those I love. Protect us in all dangers of body and soul. Help us in our daily needs. Through your powerful intercession, may we live a holy life, a happy death, and reach heaven, where we can praise and love God with you for all eternity. Amen.

The second invocation is made to Saint Gabriel the Archangel, where favors are requested directly, through the following prayer:

“Saint Gabriel the Archangel, I venerate you as the “Angel of the Incarnation,” especially because God has appointed you to carry messages related to the God-Man to Daniel, Zechariah, and the Virgin Mary. Come and give me a more sensitive devotion to our mother, more similar to yours.”

“I venerate you also as the “strength of God”, because you are the comforter, comforter and giver of the strength of God, chosen to strengthen God’s faithfulness and to teach us important truths.

“I ask for the grace of the special power of the will to fight for the sanctity of life, to appease my purposes, to renew my courage. Comfort me and comfort me in the problems, trials and sufferings of daily life. I put my trust in You, and I ask You for this favor (The request is mentioned).

“Pray for us, Saint Gabriel the Archangel. So that we are worthy of achieving the promises of Our Lord Jesus Christ. You who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.”

Invocation to San Rafael Archangel, is the third prayer that complements the daily novena:

“Saint Raphael Archangel, you who remain so close to the throne of God and offer our prayers, I venerate you as God’s message and special friend. I choose you as my patron and I wish to love and obey you as young Tobias did.

“I consecrate my body and soul, all my work, and all my life to you. I want you to be my guide and Counselor in all the dangerous and difficult problems and decisions of my life. Remember, O dearest Saint Raphael, that the grace of God was preserved with you and the good angels in heaven when the proud angels were cast into hell.

“I offer my prayers to God in the same way that you offered those of Tobias, so that, through your intercession, they may obtain the necessary graces for the salvation of my soul. I ask you to pray for me so that God grants me this favor if it is his holy will (The request is made)

“Saint Raphael, help me to love and serve my God faithfully, to die in his grace, and finally achieve the merit of joining You to see and praise God forever in heaven. Amen.

final sentences

The final prayers are three short prayers addressed to each of the Archangels directly and are made up as follows:

“Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle; Be our protection against the perversity and snares of the devil. Reprimand him God, we ask supplicants. Amen”

“Saint Gabriel Archangel, I humbly ask you to intercede for us before the throne of divine mercy. May we sing the praise of God our Savior, with the angels and saints in heaven forever. Amen.

“Saint Raphael Archangel, help us in all the needs and trials in the journey of this earthly life, just as, through the power of God, you restored sight and gave guidance to young Tobias. Amen.

In some places they make the ninth call to the holy angels with prayers to each of the seven original archangels that are not named in the Bible, along with the three main ones, these prayers are;

• First Day Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel
• The Second Day, Prayer to Saint Gabriel the Archangel
• The third day to San Rafael Arcángel
• The fourth day to Uriel Archangel.
• The Fifth day to Chamuel Archangel.
• The sixth day to Jophiel the Archangel
• The seventh day to Archangel Zadkiel
• The eighth day to the Guardian Angel
• On the ninth day the prayer of the heavenly choirs is performed.

introductory sentence

This prayer to the archangels consists of opening the environment and the space to begin with the novenas of the day, it is performed constantly and maintaining the form and content in each daily celebration.

“Angel of peace, Guardian Angel to whom I am entrusted, my defender, my mother, my vigilant sentinel, I thank you, who freed me from many harms and dangers of body and soul. Thanks I make you that, while sleeping, you watched over me and I woke up to get on my way

“In the ear with holy inspirations you warned me; I mired in worldly vices, I did not use your advice, and as a wretch I did not heal. Forgive me, my friend, messenger of heaven, counselor and protector, and my faithful guardian.

“Strong wall of my soul, defender and heavenly companion, in my disobedience, vileness, shamelessness and my many discourtesies that I committed today in your presence, you always helped me and kept me: help me and keep me always night and day. Amen.

This prayer is performed every day before making the invocations to the archangels, it becomes a spiritual routine that the faithful learn until the end of the novena.
