Promises of the Sacred Heart

The 12 promises of the Sacred Heart are solemn offerings that Jesus grants to those who honor his divine heart and that were communicated to Saint Margaret Mary in her visions.

These promises are not exclusive to anyone in particular, they include all people, whether they are fervent devotees or sinners, the difference is simply made by sincere love for the Heart of the Master who saved us from sin, out of pure, divine and great love.

The religious emphasized that these promises are the sincere and greatest love of God, in her words:

“Jesus showed me how this devotion is, as it were, the final effort of his love, the last invention of his boundless charity.”

The promises and their meaning

Each of the promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to humanity is a gift of love, which we will explain below so that you can deepen and meditate on them in your heart

“I will give you all the graces necessary for your state of life”.

Jesus promises that he will always fill us with his grace, to have a good life even when it has its difficulties and commitments.

He will answer our prayers and our correct behavior as Christians, giving each one the necessary favors in their state of life.

His faithful devotees will receive his special and extraordinary graces, the treatment given to faithful friends.

2.- “I am going to establish peace in your homes”.

One of his promises is to give our families and homes the desired peace, because in his heart we will find true love and authentic peace.

Peace is the gift that the angels gave us when the savior was born: Glory to God in Heaven and on Earth peace to men of good will. Luke 2:14.

Jesus himself sent to offer to each home through his apostles:  “In whatever house you enter, first say: Peace to this house! ” Luke 10,5.

Because Jesus Christ came to preach a Gospel of love and peace and in his heart we will find it, for us and therefore for our house.

3.- “I will comfort you in all your afflictions”

One of the wishes of Jesus is to comfort the afflicted, the sad, those who feel overwhelmed. His love for humanity is undeniable, his selfless and total surrender is the certainty that he will be by his side when the afflictions seem many.

The noble and generous heart will comfort those who turn to it, to free us from afflictions and make situations tolerable and bearable.

“ Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all .” Psalms 34:19

4.- “I will be your safe haven in life, and especially in the hour of death.”

In his heart we will find refuge, protection and love in every moment of our life and at the moment of death. He will free us from enemies, dangers and hardships, he will give us the strength, perseverance and courage to walk faithful to him throughout our lives.

“Every word of God is tried; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.” Proverbs 30:5

.- “I will grant abundant blessings especially to your temporal and spiritual undertakings.”

God is love, he is goodness, he is generosity and he always gives his children goodness and blessings, as long as they do not lead him astray or expose him to danger on his spiritual path.

Divine Providence watches over those faithful and sincere devotees to the Heart of Jesus with special sweetness and charity.

It is important to pray, with faith and certainty that the Sacred Heart of Jesus will always give us what really suits us, for this reason do not despair or be discouraged if your requests are not answered as you expect or at the time you want.

God in his infinite wisdom puts the good in our way, but the eternal and divine good, before any temporal good, therefore, trust him and his great love.

“Because I know very well the plans I have for you – affirms the Lord -, plans for well-being and not for calamity, in order to give you a future and hope “. Jeremiah 29:11

6.- “Sinners will find in My Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy”

His loving heart is the source of mercy, wel forgiveness of our sins, the redemption of our soul.

For those who really want to get rid of the weight of sin and walk hand in hand with the Lord, it will never be too late, because he forgives those who really seek him repentant and with the desire to be embraced by his mercy and love.

“So let us confidently approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help us when we need it most.” Hebrews 4:16.

.- “The lukewarm souls will become fervent”

When they refer to a lukewarm soul, it is one that has lost its interest in the Christian life, those who have allowed the love of God and neighbor to grow cold in their hearts.

A languid soul, who is not passionate about his neighbor, about living intensely, for spiritual good and cultivating his gifts, displeases God.

For this reason Jesus says that whoever is devoted to his heart and to the love that it professes, will stop being lukewarm, because he is fire that warms the earth and hearts, inspires those who let their faith cool.

“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were cold or hot. But because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” Revelation 3:15-16.

8.- “The fervent souls will reach greater perfection ”.

Among the promises of the Sacred Heart, the achievement of perfection to those who are faithful and fervent devotees to their heart, is a very special one.

It is a great reward that our Lord Jesus grants to be as similar as possible to him.

The fire of divine love molds us and makes our virtues and qualities serve God, making our search to match our interests and those of Jesus Christ.

” Therefore, be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.” Matthew 5:48.

9.- “I will bless each place where an image of my sacred heart is exposed and venerated”.

Jesus will bless every place where he is worshiped and devotion is shown, wherever his Sacred Heart is exposed and loved, he will be there to give all his goodness and blessings.

Many religious images are inspiration for many people, that is why remembering the Sacred Heart, crowned by thorns, resplendent and burning with love, is an image that encourages us to lead a life of spirituality, empathy and full of acts of love and generosity. .

10.- “I will give to the priests and to all those who deal with the salvation of souls, the gift of touching the most hardened hearts”.

One of the promises of the Sacred Heart is to give the grace to help the most rebellious, to attract the reluctant, to include the excluded, to encourage the discouraged.

Those who seek the salvation of other souls, who wish to bring the teachings of Jesus and add many devotees to the Christian life, will be blessed with the gift of touching hearts, without forcing the freedom of each individual.

Entrusting your mission and work to the Sacred Heart is to carry your love and the gift of touching difficult hearts as a driving force.

11.- “Those who spread this devotion will have their names written in My Heart, and they will never be erased”.

Loving him, keeping him in mind and teaching others to keep him in their hearts and be faithful to him, to continue spreading his devotion is a task that will give peace and light to this world, which will also make us worthy of a beautiful reward, to be loved and always remembered by him, because our names will always be written in his Heart.

12 .- “To those who receive communion on the first Friday of each month, for nine consecutive months, I will grant the grace of final perseverance.”

Sharing the Eucharist with him every first Friday of the month, for nine months in a row, persevering until the end, will have his grace and be saved. For the grace of final perseverance is considered as a reward for continuous acts and not for an isolated individual act. “He who perseveres to the end will be saved ” Matt. 10.22.

Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque

Margarita María de Alacoque was a Catholic nun, originally from France, born in 1647 and belonging to the Order of the Visitation of Saint Mary.

It was this nun who had the privilege of receiving from the Sacred Heart of Jesus, his twelve promises, a meeting that took place in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region, in the Romanesque basilica of Paray-le-Monial, which today is known as the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus of Paray-le-Monial.

Margarita María de Alacoque canonized by the Catholic Church in May 1920, had visions of Jesus, where he entrusted her to remind man how much he loves us. They began around 1673, every first Friday of the month, and lasted for two years.

Christ, gave the nun messages where he emphasized his love for humanity, around 1675 he transmitted to her perhaps one of the most heartfelt and impressive:

“ Here is the heart that has loved men so much, that nothing has been spared, until it was extinguished and consumed to show them its love. And in recognition I receive from the majority nothing but ingratitude .”

In the revelations that our Lord Jesus made to Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque, he made known the twelve promises or offerings for those who are faithful to his Sacred Heart and emphasizes those things that he expects from the men he loves so much.

She tells us that the Heart of Jesus sees with special pleasure the service and good deeds of those who have a humble heart, being worthy of his blessings and grace.
