Jay Leno suffered “severe burns” but is in stable condition after a gasoline fire, the former host of “The Tonight Show” confirmed to Variety. Leno said in a statement: “I had some severe burns in a gasoline fire. I am well. I just need a week or two to recover.”

TMZ reported that Leno was hospitalized on Sunday after a fire broke out in his car garage in Los Angeles. One of the cars reportedly caught fire, leaving Leno with burns on his face. Leno was taken to the Grossman Burn Center for his injuries.

People magazine first reported on Leno’s health. The comedian was scheduled to attend a financial conference in Las Vegas on Sunday but had to cancel his performance due to a “serious medical emergency”. Leno’s facial burns were not publicized at the time.

“Her family was unable to provide us with many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that prevented Jay from traveling,” an email to attendees said. “All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers are with him and his family tonight.”

In recent years, Leno has been open about his high cholesterol. The news of a “serious medical emergency” led many fans to believe that Leno had a cholesterol-related health issue. In a video posted in 2019, Leno encouraged his followers to get routine cholesterol checks.
